Maeda at Media Visualization

Maeda @ Media Visualization

This project involved creating a visualization of the 450-page book Maeda @ Media, by John Maeda. I spent quite a bit of time simply analyzing the content, sketching and re-sketching my understanding of its structure.

Since Maeda had essentially designed a picture book, I realized that imagery would be central to my visualization. I scanned the entire book and used the images to populate a fully functioning Javascript-driven interface that illuminates the organization of the book through a series of micro- and macroviews.

The final application allowed users to access the entire book and browse at the page and chapter level. I added an additional layer of understanding by allowing the user to sort the pages by information type at the book level.
